Services We Offer

Wellness Exams

Your pet’s health is always our number one priority, which is why for most pets we recommend annual wellness exams to ensure that your animal companion remains in good health. If your pet is a senior–over seven for dogs, over nine for cats–we strongly suggest twice-yearly exams and blood screenings. That’s because pets age more rapidly than humans, meaning disease and illness develop faster as well.

L&L Veterinary Clinic’s veterinarian-performed physical exams comprehensively assess every aspect of your pet’s health.

Vaccinations

Young animals are like kids–it’s a never-ending job to keep them safe and happy. Vaccinating your pet is a relatively inexpensive but very important way to protect his or her health. In addition to preventing many life-threatening illnesses, vaccinations can prevent diseases prevalent in wildlife and those that can be passed to humans. It’s important to administer vaccinations when pets are puppies and kittens because their young immune systems are still developing and need protection to stay healthy.

Dental Care

While some people might laugh at the idea of brushing their pet’s teeth or taking them for a dental cleaning, the fact is that by age three, 80% of dogs and 70% of cats have some evidence of periodontal disease. Periodic dental exams help maintain proper oral hygiene and prevent future problems. L&L Veterinary Clinic offers complete pet oral health services, including dental exams, annual dental cleanings, dental x-rays and extractions.

In-House Lab

L&L Veterinary Clinic has the capability to perform various blood tests, pre-anesthetic bloodwork, and other types of testing on site instead of sending samples to an outside lab. This saves time, money, and most importantly, you don’t have to wait overnight for results—meaning your pet gets a diagnosis and needed treatment sooner.

Laser Therapy

Consider it the “non-cutting” edge of veterinary science! Laser therapy is an innovative technology used to treat acute and chronic injuries. This non-invasive treatment stimulates cell regeneration by increasing blood flow to the targeted area, which accelerates the healing process. It has been successfully used to accelerate the healing process after surgery, alleviate joint pain, and treat degenerative diseases.

Avian Care

Birds make wonderful, fascinating companions—but they do require consistent care to keep them happy and healthy.

The single most important thing you can do to maintain your avian friend’s health is to make sure you keep up with regular veterinary exams. Birds are very good at hiding signs of illness or injury, Don’t let them fool you! While twice per year is optimal, at a minimum they should see the veterinarian annually to:

  • check body condition and weight
  • inspect skin and feathering
  • examine eyes, ears, nose, and throat
  • palpate the abdomen
  • listen to heart, lungs and airsacs
  • discuss diet and socialization
  • test alertness

We may also recommend routine testing for parasites, inflammation, bacterial infections, anemia, nutritional health, immune system function and disease. If you have questions about caring for your bird or want to set an appointment for your pet, call us at 708-206-2060.

Pocket Pet Care

L&L Veterinary Clinic knows that best friends come in all shapes and sizes and that’s why in addition to dogs and cats, we provide comprehensive care for rabbits and other small mammals or “pocket pets”, including:

  • Guinea Pigs
  • Hamsters
  • Gerbils
  • Ferrets
  • Sugar Gliders
  • Rats
  • Mice
  • Chinchillas
  • Hedgehogs

Many of these animals do require a very particular environment to thrive, and it’s important you have a veterinarian experienced in their care to help. Our doctors can advise you about proper care, feeding and maintenance of your pet, as well as treat illnesses and conditions specific to their species.
